U2 iNNOCENCE + eXPERIENCE Tour 2015 – day 5 the general onsale for the added shows

Now all my ticket buying for U2’s iNNOCENCE + eXPERIENCE Tour is finished – hope I didn’t just jinx it. Yesterday was the regular on sale for the added shows. I wanted to get the two added shows in New York City and Chicago. Boston’s added shows were conveniently on sale at a different time, but I already had everything set up for the New York shows, and really wanted to be there for the last one. So this left no vacation days or money to travel to Boston – even though I really wanted to go and hang with my new Boston U2 friends.

Sunday night before the tickets even went on sale, I started strategizing. Knowing how difficult it was and probably still would be to get tickets to the New York shows and how much I just had to go to the last show in North America, I decided to check out the GAs for NYC6 Monday July 27 on eBay from a friend’s suggestion. They had the cheapest price ($250) of any of the resale tickets – plus I could buy it with PayPal credit and pay it off over six months with no interest. All tickets as Madison Square Garden are paper tickets, not credit card entry, so there is no problem with resale. I decided to buy a GA for the last show and then just take whatever I could get for NYC5 Sunday July 26.

10am Monday morning came rather quickly as I was not feeling well. I had the Ticketmaster site open on my laptop and my Ticketmaster app open on my phone – both for NYC5 Sunday July 26. Just like last week, the sites just kept spinning and spinning. I opened a second window on my laptop, so I had three sites opened trying for one little ticket. After several minutes, a $300 seat came up across from the stage. I didn’t mind getting a seat, but not one that was far away and not one for $300. I wanted a seat like I had for NYC2 and NYC3 close behind the stage for $100. If I am going to pay $300, it is going to be for GA. Because GA is better than any seat, even if you don’t want to wait in line all day to be right up on the stage. Around 10:30, I gave up and went back to eBay. I bought a GA for NYC5 Sunday July 26 with paypal credit for $250 – less than the bad seat I had pulled on Ticketmaster.

Just 15 minutes later at 11am (10am cst) tickets for the added shows in Chicago went on sale – and it was just as easy as last week. I had my Ticketmaster app on my phone opened to Chicago3 Sunday June 28 and the Ticketmaster site on my laptop open to Chicago4 Monday June 29. I was trying for Sunday on my phone because I thought the Sunday show would be more difficult to get since it’s a weekend and the Ticketmaster app on my phone had proven to be more successful in the past. At first, both the app and the site said no GA’s were available and then no tickets were available, but I kept trying. It said the same thing last week, and I was able to get them. And just like last week, at around 11:15am (10:15am cst) a GA for Chicago3 Sunday June 28 popped up on my TM app on my phone. Then I tried for Chicago4 Monday June 29 on my TM app on my phone and around 11:20 (10:20 cst) a GA popped up, while the TM site on my laptop was still spinning. Never give up and don’t believe it when Ticketmaster says no tickets are available – just keep trying.

Now I am finished (I hope) with all my ticket buying for U2’s iNNOCENCE + eXPERIENCE Tour – unless they add more shows in Vancouver, Chicago or New York City. I am going to 12 shows, 10 are GA and 2 are seats. I am going to both shows in Vancouver – the tour opener! I am very much looking forward to visiting Vancouver for the first time. I will be there May 13-16 staying at the Sandman Hotel right across from Rogers Arena. I am going to all four shows in Chicago staying June 23-30 at the Crowne Plaza Chicago Metro Downtown about a mile from the United Center. I am really looking forward to spending a week in Chicago, one of my favorite cities, meeting all my new Chicago U2 friends and seeing the shows with them – people I’ve been tweeting with for the past few years. I am going to all six shows in New York City, including the final show in North America. I am going to be spending 10 days in New York City July 18-28. It is going to be so fantastic to spend over a week in the City and see how it might feel to live in NYC – see a play on Broadway, take a walk in Central Park, eat authentic New York pizza. Oh what a time I’m going to have! For two of the shows in New York City, I have seats – great ‘cheap’ seats! I have a seat in the front row of section 3 behind the stage for NYC3 and 10th row in section 103 behind the stage for NYC2 – both of these close seats were $118. If I am going to have a seat for a U2 show, I prefer to be close behind the stage, then further away with a front view.

If you’re going to the U2 shows in Vancouver or Chicago, please join our Facebook groups and U2 MeetUps. We are planning a MeetUp in Vancouver May 13th the night before the tour opener – place to be determined as the date grows closer. Please RSVP to our U2 Vancouver MeetUp here and join our U2ieTourVancouver Facebook group here. We are planning a MeetUp in Chicago on Saturday June 27th (and maybe also Friday June 26th for those who can’t make the Saturday MeetUp) – place to determined as the date grows closer. Please RSVP to our U2 Chicago MeetUp here and join our U2ieTourChicago Facebook group here. I am not sure if we will be planning a MeetUp in New York City just because it’s so vast, but maybe as the date grows closer – we’ll see.

Hope to see you out on tour On the Road with U2 in Vancouver, Chicago and New York City. If not, please follow along with me on Twitter @OnTheRoadWithU2 or on Facebook at On the Road with U2.
