I have written my U2 memoir, On the Road with U2 – my musical journey. It is about my adventures since 1992 on the U2 tours from ZooTV to 360, including all 75 concerts, the people I’ve met, the places I’ve seen and my quest to meet Larry. It has been a wonderful journey, both [continue reading]
I love blogging the A to Z Blog Challenge – blogging everyday in April, except Sundays, on a specific theme. I loved doing it last year, and I enjoyed it even more this year. I think I enjoy the challenge so much because I am one who likes to to lists things, rank my favorites. This [continue reading]
The ZooTv Tour was my first U2 tour. U2 announced they would be touring America in the Spring of 1992, in support of their Achtung Baby album. I was a sophomore in college, so I could now go to concerts! I had a subscription to Propaganda, U2’s fan magazine, which gave me an opportunity to [continue reading]
my 1st U2 show My musical journey on the road with U2 started 21 years ago today in Hampton, Virginia. It was Saturday March 7, 1992, and I was 19. My first U2 show was the fifth of the ZooTv Tour. On the morning of March 7th, my best friend Cindy and I drove four hours south from Ellicott City, MD [continue reading]
When most people think of U2, they think of Bono. In fact some people even refer to U2 as Bono and the Boys, which really annoys me but that is a topic for another time. Bono is the lead singer of U2, the front man, the one who gets all of the publicity. He is also the one who writes the lyrics, [continue reading]
A favorite of mine about U2 that begins with A is Achtung Baby. Sorry Adam fans. When AB was released almost 21 1/2 years ago in November 1991, I must admit that I did not like it. It was such a departure from The Joshua Tree and Rattle and Hum, and actually from all of their previous [continue reading]

I must admit that when Achtung Baby was released in November of 1991, I did not like it. It was such a departure from The Joshua Tree and Rattle and Hum, and actually from all of their previous albums. I had to listen to it several times before I fell in love with it, and then AB was the only [continue reading]
I had a great time in April blogging each day about my 26 favorite U2 songs in the A to Z challenge. So much fun in fact that I wanted to list my favorite U2 songs (each highlighted with links back to the original posts) in this one blog post with the addition of honorable mentions, so I truly [continue reading]
My favorite U2 song that begins with Z is Zoo Station. It is off one of my favorite albums Achtung Baby, and is the very first song I ever heard U2 play in concert. Even today 20 years later when I listen to Zoo Station, it brings me back to the Zoo Tv tour – my very first U2 tour. Zoo [continue reading]
My favorite U2 song that begins with V is Van Diemen’s Land. Not that Van Diemen’s Land is a favorite of mine, but I like it better than Vertigo – and they are the only two U2 songs that begin with V. But Van Diemen’s Land is off of my second favorite U2 album Rattle and [continue reading]
My favorite U2 song that begins with Q is Queen, Dancing – or Dancing Queen. I had to be really creative here because U2 do not have any songs that begin with Q. So I picked a song they covered in concert whose second word of the title begins with Q. U2 performed Abba’s Dancing Queen [continue reading]

I know this is a blog about my travels on the U2 tours, but I could not let this day pass without writing about it. Today is April 4th, the 43rd anniversary of the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr in Memphis. I used to work at the National Civil Rights Museum, which is at the Lorraine [continue reading]
Primus and Disposable Heroes of Hiphoprosy opened the all the shows I saw on the ZooTv Outside Broadcast tour, except for the rehearsal concert in Hershey. Primus had a popular song called Jerry Was a Racecar Driver and U2 had been using Disposable’s Television Drug of a Nation to open their [continue reading]
My final ZooTv show was on September 3, 1992 at Veterans Stadium in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. There were two shows in Philadelphia and I was supposed to go to both shows, but was moving back to College Park so I only went to the second show. It was raining again, so they let the few of us waiting [continue reading]
Two days after the Jersey show on August 15th, Mike and I were back in our hometown for two more ZooTv shows. Well, sort of. As close as the ZooTv tour was going to get to Ellicott City, Maryland. We were at RFK Stadium in Washington DC in the rain. I met Bono again and he autographed the picture [continue reading]
On August 11, 1992 three friends and I drove up to New Jersey for the official opening of the ZooTv Outside Broadcast tour at Giants Stadium. Opening night had been pushed back one night to August 12th. Mike and I went over to the stadium anyway and ended up sneaking in and getting up on the stage [continue reading]
In the summer of 1992, U2 ditched the arenas for stadiums for their ZooTv Outside Broadcast Tour, and I went to the first five shows and another one a month later. Living in Maryland made it easy to travel to most of the East Coast shows. Washington DC, Philadelphia, and New York were all within a [continue reading]
At the age of 19 ½, I saw my first U2 show. It was on the ZooTV tour on March 7, 1992 at Hampton Coliseum in Hampton, Virginia. It was the 5th show of the tour. My best friend, Cindy, went with me. We made the four-hour drive from Baltimore to Hampton and immediately walked over to the arena. We [continue reading]
