November 4, 2005 – Vertigo Vegas
This Day in U2 History
My best friend, Cindy, and I arrived in Las Vegas the morning of the U2 show on November 4, 2005. We checked into Ballys and then had pizza at New York New York, who has phenomenal pizza by the way. We walked over to MGM to check out the GA line situation, even though I had a seat for the show. We gambled at Boardwalk Casino, shopped at the Venetian and Alladin and then had dinner at Café Lux.
I walked up to the MGM Grand Arena and took my seat behind the stage. It’s where I like to sit when I don’t have GA, so I can see Larry – plus it’s really close to the stage. Damien Marley opened – not very exciting even though he is Bob Marley’s son. There was an Elvis impersonator on the floor section, so during “Love and Peace or Else,” Bono tried to sing it like Elvis. Then Bono sang “Can’t Help Falling in Love” after “One.” U2 played one of my all-time favorites “Who’s Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses!” It was a really good show. I was up for over 22 hours and then only slept for four hours before getting up and doing it all over again.
