P is for Pride
My favorite U2 song that begins with P is Pride. It is one of my top ten favorite U2 songs. And I, unlike many others, love that U2 still play it in concert. It is such an uplifting, spiritual song – much like I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For. Pride is about Martin Luther King, Jr., which is why I love it so much. Pride is a great live song. Bono really gets into it and so does the audience with their ‘oh oh oh ohs.’ My favorite was when part of MLK’s ‘Mountain Top’ speech was played during Pride on the ZooTv tour.
One man come in the name of love
One man come and go.
One man come he to justify
One man to overthrow.
In the name of love
What more in the name of love.
In the name of love
What more in the name of love.
One man caught on a barbed wire fence
One man he resist
One man washed up on an empty beach
One man betrayed with a kiss.
In the name of love
What more in the name of love.
In the name of love
What more in the name of love.
Early morning, April four
Shot rings out in the Memphis sky.
Free at last, they took your life
They could not take your pride.
In the name of love
What more in the name of love.
In the name of love
What more in the name of love.
In the name of love
What more in the name of love.
In the name of love
What more in the name of love.
